((This is an AU Roleplay. That means that the characters are all in human form, complete with human names and human jobs. Enjoy!))
Secluded in the deepest end of a lush valley, Hetalia Town is at first glance more of a city than a town. Tall building rear to the sky with glass plane windows and the streets are bustling with cars. However urban this scene may be, Hetalia Town is rather tiny for a city and has a lower population than any city would have. This little town sits in between borders of different countries, so is not considered a part of any nation. This little patch of land has been fought over much in the past, and eventually there was no more interest in such a small addition. This land never established it's own government either, so it never really became it's own country. Instead this town has a council that decides on the rules and order of the small city. However small the place is, it is not totally without recourses. Hetalia Town is right at the edge of a bay that outlets into the sea, so seafood is an abundance, and the edges of the town are flanked by forests that can be forested for timber. Some people have moved to this land to make a living, and immigrants come from all over the world.
The small city of Hetalia Town has three schools- an elementary school (this includes a preschool and kindergarten), a middle school and a high school. In addition to this there is a university that overlooks the town from a hill, it's property and dormitories clustered around it. These educational buildings are where some adults teach for a living, and where students of all ages earn their marks. There is also a hospital and smaller clinic for health needs. A volunteer animal shelter and animal rescue tends to animals in need. Along the sides of the streets there are countless numbers of homes, shops and small businesses. Welcome to Hetalia Town.
((By the way, the characters' age reflects that of their physical age in the anime/manga. If you need help identifying your charater's general age group, please contact me by site message. This also applies to help finding your character's canon human names.))

((Starting it off. Sorry if my 'logic' throws people off, I needed to keep Kumajirou in here somewhere. I've actually heard someone raise an orphaned baby polar bear for a few months while it was newborn, but then they had to give it to a zoo (real story! I saw it on the news). I'm just going to use this as logic for why Matthew would have Kuamjirou. XD I could've made Kuma a cat or a dog or something, but this is more fun. Also, Matthew's job was inspired by Paint it White, where he helped out a bunch of people by playing doctor/nurse or something.))
Matthew Williams cracked open one lavender-blue eye as he slid out of a murky sleep and into reality, emitting a large yawn before sitting up with a small stretch. His hand fumbled around at the bedside table on his right hand side until he located his glasses and slid the lenses up his nose. The world came into focus to the sleep-disoriented man. He was in his bedroom in the small apartment he lived in on the north-west side of town. The walls in his room were white, a very boring normal colour, but at least the carpet was soft. It was a beige colour, as Matthew liked neutral colours for living places. He slid his legs around and over the bed, his bare feet meeting the soft floor. He stretched out his cramped shoulder muscles and shook his head, hoping that annoying bouncy curl would for once settle back with the rest of his hair. Of course, the stubborn thing did no such thing. He made his way over to the small laundry room opposite his bedroom in the tiny hall his apartment had. He was lucky that his apartment had separate rooms, even if the separate rooms were all very tiny. The laundry room (which didn't really have any washers or driers, he simply called the laundry room by that name because it was where he put all the dirty clothes he intended to take down to the real public laundry room downstairs later) was covered across the floor in trampled newspaper. A pile of blankets sat in the center of the tiny room, slowly moving as a little creature wriggled about inside. Matthew lifted one corner to peek at his current little companion. The baby polar bear blinked up at Matthew, yawning as it's pink tongue lolled. Matthew grabbed a plastic baby bottle that had been provided by the zoo and let the polar bear drink it's breakfast of special formula milk (also provided by the zoo). The zoo had provided most things the polar bear cub needed, as it was still technically the little polar bear's owner. Matthew was only the little bear's caretaker- a volunteer with a medical degree that had been able to provide papers about is education in animal and human well-fare. Even then, the zoo had been reluctant for Matthew to take care of the newborn creature, but they had no staff or polar bears at the zoo willing to take care of Kumajirou (the mother bear had died in captivity shortly after Kumajirou's birth). Matthew knew that even though he had gotten far enough to raise the bear, the instant Kumajirou went from eating milk to eating meat would be the same date for handing the cute little thing back to the zoo. It made Matthew sad, but it also made him relieved. However little the newborn's teeth were, they were still very sharp! He glanced at his watch as Kumajirou finished his meal. Almost time to leave for work, he'd better hurry up.

[[You know, I'm thinking of joining. But if I did, would it be summer vacation for Lil' Peter?]]

((Hetalia Town is also on a harbour, so you could give him a job there too if you wanted. It's your choice. =3))

[[Well I was sort of thinking that it could be his dream to be a sailor, but the closest he could get to the ocean was working a job at the Rec. Center pool. I suppose I'll work off of that and make him a junior lifeguard. T:]]
When his alarm clock began to go off, Peter groaned and put his pillow over his head to block the noise that had awoken him from his slumber. He had work today, but didn't really want to go at all. It was always the same routine: He'd get to the pool, wait around, watch over the pool for hours while nothing ever happened. Now and then he'd have to tell little children not to run on the pool deck, but nothing exciting ever happened and the sheer blandness of it all made the boy want to topple over out of boredom (of course, he'd be fired if he did that). What he really wanted to do was go boating on the harbor. There was never a day when the harbor was dull or boring. There were always boats coming and going, fishermen shouting and hauling different types of fish around, and people just strolling up and down the boardwalk and riding their bikes to and fro. And he loved it. As his parents had always told him, "Across the water lies adventure." And it had always been his dream to find out what kinds of adventures awaited him across the water.
The boy sighed, throwing the pillow back onto its original spot on the messed up bed and stepped onto the cold, wooden floor. He rubbed his eyes wearily before turning off his alarm clock by slamming his fist down on it. Reluctantly, he made his way toward the closet. Peter pulled his blue junior lifeguard tee-shirt off a hanger along with a plaid pair of white swimming trunks, and slipped them on. He grabbed his sandals and glanced up at the wall clock, letting out a small yawn. He still had a few minutes until it was time to leave for the Rec Center. Even though he was still quite hungry, he figured he'd wait until his break to eat something. Peter stared up at the clock, waiting for the last minute to past. Ding! A timer went off and it was time for him to go. "I'M LEAVING NOW, MUM!" He shouted, cupping his hands over his mouth as he headed out the door.
[[Just so you know, he lives in the same apartment as Mattie. I just didn't know how to slip it in there. XD]]

Matthew departed to get dressed in his usual green medical scrubs, grab a juicy red apple for breakfast on the go and lock the laundry room door (he'd learned the hard way that newborn polar bears, however cute, simply were not to be left alone with furniture). He pulled on a pair of runners and exited his apartment, closing and locking the door behind him. He turned around to see his neighbour Peter walking down the hallway as well. He supposed that the boy must be going somewhere for summer activities or maybe to simply hang out with friends, as the school year must have ended by now. He smiled faintly, raising a hand to wave at the young boy. "H-Hello Peter." Matthew greeted, starting down the hallway towards the stairwell. OOC- Short posts kill me, gah... But I can't think of anything to make it longer...
